Gregory Gillespie (November 29, 1936–April 26, 2000) was an American magical realist painter. He is known for his meticulously painted figurative works, self portraits, landscapes and hyperrealistic still lives that featured fantastical elements. He also built shrine-like assemblages using and combining materials in unconventional ways. Gillespie’s work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Arkansas Center, the Hirshhorn Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, and others.
