Francesco Clemente (b. 1952, Naples, Italy) is an Italian artist who has worked in a variety of media including drawing, fresco, mosaic, oil painting, sculpture, and printmaking. He was a leading figure in the Italian Transavanguardia movement of the 1980s, which rejected Formalism and conceptual art and embraced a return to figurative art and Symbolism. His work has been widely shown and is in public and private collections across the world.
